Poet

I'm of Lithuanian heritage on my mother's side of the family. My grandfather was born in Lithuania during a period of Russian occupation. He emigrated to the United States in 1912 as a passenger on the President Grant traveling from Hamburg Germany to Ellis Island, New York.

As a poet, I'm interested in contemporary Lithuanian poetry. I have embarked upon my own journey to learn Lithuanian and to translate Lithuanian poetry. The first poet whose work I've translated is Alma Riebzdaite. The first three translated poems were published in The Los Angeles Review. Below find a link to Alma's poetry in the Lithuanian language journal Siaures Atenai as well as a link to my translations.
